Stiamo a casa a Edmonton questo mese, ma solo per un mese. Siamo ospiti prima di tornare in Polonia. È una cosa strana che non abbiamo mai sperimentato prima.

Ad aprile 2025, siamo arrivati in Polonia per provare a vivere in Europa per un po’ di tempo. Dopo questi cinque mesi, abbiamo deciso di restare per un anno in più. Adesso il piano è rimanere in Polonia fino ad agosto 2026.

Dal 22 dicembre al 22 gennaio, siamo qui a Edmonton, in Canada, per una ‘vacanza’, per andare a trovare la familigia dopo tanto tempo all’estero. Ci rimane ancora una settimana.

È stata un’esperienza molto interessante perché sembriamo ospiti a casa nostra. La nostra casa è affittato su Airbnb quindi era quasi vuota di oggetti personali quando siamo arrivati ma adesso è piena. Fra alcuni giorni, dovremo portare via tutte queste cose per preparare la casa per i prossimi ospiti di nuovo.

Rivedere la familgia non è stato forse così emozionante come pensavo sarebbe stato. Abbiamo visto i miei a settembre, quindi non è passato tanto tempo. Oggigiorno, con Whatsapp e le videochiamate, sembra che siamo insieme molto di piu. Per mia moglie, è stata un’esperienze un po’ più emozionante perché non vedeva la sua famiglia da maggio (in Italia) dove abbiamo fatto un altro piccolo viaggio.

L’altra cosa è il lavoro per mia moglie. Non lavora in Polonia ma può lavorare qui a Edmonton come infermeria. Le mancava il lavoro dopo dieci mesi e adesso, è una delle cose che la spingono a voler tornare in Canada alla fine dell’estate.

Per ora, godiamo l’ultima settimana con la famiglia e gli amici e ci stiamo preparando a tornare in Polonia.

We’re at home in Edmonton this month, but only for one month. We’re guests here before returning to Poland. It’s a strange thing we’ve never experienced before.

In April 2025, we arrived in Poland to try living in Europe for a while. After those five months, we decided to stay for one more year. Now the plan is to remain in Poland until August 2026.

From December 22 to January 22, we’re here in Edmonton, Canada, on a “vacation,” visiting family after a long time abroad. We still have one week left.

It’s been a very interesting experience because we feel like guests in our own home. Our house is rented out on Airbnb, so it was almost empty of personal belongings when we arrived, but now it’s full. In a few days, we’ll have to take all these things away again to prepare the house for the next guests.

Seeing the family again wasn’t quite as emotional as I thought it would be. We saw my family in September, so it hasn’t been that long. Nowadays, with WhatsApp and video calls, it feels like we’re together much more. For my wife, it’s been a bit more emotional, because she hadn’t seen her family since May (in Italy), where we took another small trip.

The other issue is work for my wife. She doesn’t work in Poland, but she can work here in Edmonton as a nurse. She missed working after ten months, and now it’s one of the things that pushes her to want to return to Canada at the end of the summer.

For now, we’re enjoying this last week with family and friends and getting ready to return to Poland.
